ANNOUNCEMENT: The Consortium of International Security Societies (CISS)

Today, we at the University of Glasgow's Strategy and Security are proud to announce the formation of the Consortium of International Security Societies (CISS). This is in tandem with partner societies at Kings College London and the Global Security Initiative, as founding members. Our new partnership is the first of its kind in the world between such student organisations. This will allow greater research collaboration, academic development and offer differing perspectives into the world of international security. We are currently collaborating on a joint research project regarding the Ukraine-Russia conflict and look forward to the greater opportunities this will develop.

With the creation of this partnership, we intend to help place our society on the global map of the international security scene. Through our growing international connections with like-minded organisations, we intend to become one of the world’s leading student security societies. It is this, that we intend to set the precedent for all student-led security societies to follow.

The following partnership will help develop deeper connections between our societies. This will allow for collaborative research projects, through which we give our members both research experience and networking opportunities. Secondly, it will present the ability for joint events between us, including networking and guest lectures. Thirdly, this will help students in their academic development while at the University of Glasgow.
